Mad about the West: the Wild Atlantic Way

A few days ago, Birigtta Hedin Curtin - the newly appointed ambassador to the Wild Atlantic Way - went to Connemara to be featured in a promotional video for Ireland's first long-distance touring route.

We are very excited about this fantastic project undertaken by Fáilte Ireland. The Wild Atlantic Way will be stretching along the Irish Atlantic coast from Donegal in the northwest to West Cork in the south of Ireland.

The project has made great progress since we heard about it for the first time over a year ago. The route has been identified, the signage along the route is going up, and Discovery Points are being created.

The route will help the visitors to Ireland's west coast to discover lesser known but equally beautiful and interesting areas that they might have by-passed otherwise. It will improve the on-road and on-trail interpretation, infrastructure and signage along and around the route.

Here a video that will make you pack your bags and get here before the three minutes are over, so be warned!
