So much happening at Seafest

BIM Taste the Atlantic guide 600pxLast weekend, Galway excelled again as hosts of Seafest - a festival that evolves around everything to do with the sea, marine life and food. It features educational, culinary and fun activities.

BIM - Bord Iascaigh Mhara - seized the very timely opportunity of the maritime festival to launch a new, very high quality brochure called "Taste the Atlantic - The trail you can take, and taste!"

It covers the locations of and detailed information on oyster, clam, abalone and mussel producers as well as smokehouses along the Atlantic seaboard, now becoming better known under the name Wild Atlantic Way. You can download it here.

This picture on the left was taken during the launch of the newly extended #TasteTheAtlantic seafood trail, and you'll find some of the producers mentioned in the brochure in it, among others Birgitta Hedin Curtin.

Don't worry about them not wearing life jackets - this picture is fake! A boat on dry land with a backdrop picture of the Cliffs of Moher!

Seafest 2017 An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar with Burren SmokehouseAn Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, who is Ireland's new "prime minister", came to Seafest last weekend, and also visited the Burren Smokehouse stall there!

Apparently, he not only likes funny socks but also Smoked Salmon. Can't beat good taste...
