SVT Gokvaell film team at Burren SmokehouseA popular Swedish TV show, Go’kväll, has been filming in the West of Ireland, and more importantly in the Burren area, recently, following an  invitation from Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

The TV crew recorded enough footage for three separate episodes, featuring some of the experiences that their audience in Sweden could enjoy when coming to Ireland on their holidays.

Go’kväll is a daily lifestyle programme which airs on the national public broadcaster in Sweden, "Sveriges Television". Each of the three episodes, set to air during autumn and winter 2018, will be seen by more than 1 million people.

During their time on the west coast, the crew filmed at the Burren Smokehouse, the Cliffs of Moher and on locations in Galway. They met with Lisdoonvarna matchmaker Willie Daly, forager Oonagh O’Dwyer from Wild Kitchen in Lahinch, and Birigitta Hedin Curtin from the Burren Smokehouse.

Tourism Ireland revealed that Ireland has seen a good growth in visitor numbers from the Nordic Region so far this year, with the most recent figures for March to May showing an increase of 5.6% – an extra 3,500 Nordic visitors compared with the same three-month period last year.
