Between the Burren Smokehouse visitor centre & shop, the “Taste the Atlantic – Salmon Experience”, the Burren Brewery, the Roadside Tavern, and finally the Burren Storehouse for refreshments, you can easily spend half a day with us here in Lisdoonvarna.
We are located a short 20 minute drive north-east of the Cliffs of Moher, just 10 minutes from Doolin and easily accessible by public transport.
In the Burren Smokehouse Visitor Centre, you can learn how we smoke our salmon and explore the retired kiln. Find out about the history of the Curtin Family and shop to your heart’s content.
Next door, the “Taste the Atlantic – Salmon Experience” will take you on a journey through time. With the help of many interactive displays it explains the significance of salmon and its importance to the people. It tells its story from the times of the Salmon of Knowledge to today’s modern aquaculture.
A bit further up the road, the quaint, more than 150 year old Roadside Tavern invites you to have a rest, listen to live traditional music and have a bite to eat in the summer months. It is hosting the Burren Brewery under its roof, a micro-brewery which was listed as one of the top three craft breweries in Ireland by the Lonely Planet Global Beer Guide.
The Burren Storehouse is a new addition to the mini food trail. Its airy open space is an ideal for lunches and dinners, for live music and other events. Its authentic Italian pizza oven bakes delicious pizzas with locally produced toppings like smoked salmon and St. Tola Goats cheese.
The Burren Smokehouse Visitor Centre, the “Taste the Atlantic – Salmon Experience”, the Roadside Tavern and Burren Storehouse are conveniently situated on the N67 in Lisdoonvarna, just a few kilometres off the Wild Atlantic Way, close to the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin.
We have a free car park for our customers, and our visitor centre is easily accessible and suitable for the disabled.
