A small community tourism network on the edge of Europe has been named one of the world's top 30 places, people and tourism projects for 2021 - alongside destinations like the Rocky Mountaineer Train in Canada, Rwanda's Gorilla Conservation Programme, Greece's organic food to name just a few.
This award comes at a great time - the 10th anniversary of the Burren Ecoutourism Network. So much has been achieved in the last decade, and this BIT 2021 award is just the latest in a row of awards over the years.
It also comes at a difficult time for tourism and everybody working in the hospitality sector, with Ireland just emerging from the restrictions of the pandemic. This award, we hope, will raise awareness about the Burren area especially in the Irish but also the international tourism market who will most likely be starting to come back to Ireland from autumn onwards.
