Эта замечательная француженка была просто великолепна. Её энтузиазм, знания и искренняя увлечённость сделали посещение интересным как для взрослых, так и для детей. Больше всего нас впечатлило то, как она рассказывала историю коптильни, семьи владельцев и удивительный путь лосося. Казалось, будто она говорит о своей собственной семье. Такое отношение к работе встречается очень редко. К концу экскурсии мы почувствовали связь не только с продуктом, но и с людьми, которые стоят за этим семейным бизнесом. Рассказы об ирландских традициях, легенде о Лососе Мудрости и преданности семьи своему ремеслу превратили обычную гастрономическую остановку в настоящее культурное путешествие. Полезные советы для посетителей: • Не спешите проходить экспозицию — уделите время историям и рассказам. • Если вашим гидом окажется Эмили, вам очень повезёт. • Даже если вы не являетесь большим поклонником лосося, посещение стоит того ради атмосферы, истории и увлекательных рассказов. • Это отличное место для семейного посещения — детям здесь тоже очень интересно. • Оставьте время для посещения магазина и дегустации продукции. • Посещение удобно совместить с поездкой по Буррену или посещением Дулина. Мы планировали провести здесь совсем немного времени, а в итоге задержались гораздо дольше, потому что нам было действительно интересно. Delicious snack!
Stopped here for a snack after the cliffs. Got smoked cheese and salmon. Food was good but a bit pricey. Employee was very nice. Might be fun if they had some picnic tables or something to enjoy a snack outside their shop.

A day of learning
We did the smokehouse tour where we learned about the difference between cold and hot smoked salmon and how the different flavors are achieved. We even had some samples. There is a small museum that we went through. A very nice attraction during a rainy day

Tasting locally produced and sourced foods is a must do here!
On a Trafalgar Tour for the Best of Ireland we stopped at the Burren Smokehouse to learn about locally caught & smoked salmon, both cold and hot smoked. I also won the drawing for a pkg of salmon. Great experience. Fabulous fish. Do stop. Outstanding staff.

Excellent smoked salmon!
Burren Smokehouse is located in the natural area called The Burren, in Western Ireland. Here, there is a shop, where you can buy some types of smoked salmon. Also, you can visit the facilities, pitifully, when we arrived it was closed. However the shop was wonderful: we bought some types of salmon and they were excellent, when we ate them in our accommodation. Next time I would like to visit the facilities. Auf unserer Rundreise im Mai 2008 kamen wir auch nach Lisdoonvarna. Bei einer Ortsbesichtigung gingen wir auch u.a. in die Räucherei, da wir Liebhaber von Fischköstlichkeiten waren. Das Ambiente gefiel uns sehr gut und haben uns auch ein wenig leckeren Räucherlachs zugelegt. Wochen später erhielt ich eine wundervolle Nachricht der Räucherei, das ich dort bei einem ausgetragenen Gewinnspiel eine Lachsseite gewonnen hatte, die mir sogar nach Deutschland geliefert wurde.

Visite très instructive et intéressante sous forme d'un film en français retraçant l’histoire de l’entreprise, les procédés de fumage à froid, à chaud… (et avec la présence de la "boss" en prime !), dégustation délicieuse et conviviale orchestrée par Vladimir avec beaucoup d'humour et de bonne humeur. Foodie Heaven!
As a tour guide I go lots of places in Ireland. There are some I’m particularly delighted to see crop up on an itinerary, and this is definitely one of them. The Curtin family are passionately involved in the slow food movement. Their smoked fish (not just salmon! Sea trout and mackerel too) are superlative, and they also carry a select range of food products from other artisan producers. The introductory video, available in several languages, tells the story, but if you book a tasting masterclass you get even more insights (and here I pause to name and praise Vladimir, who has been giving these classes all this season, hugely entertaining as well as informative). If you want to know even more, there’s an exhibit putting current commercial salmon farming in its historic and even legendary context. I can vouch that the vacuum packed salmon will survive several days without refrigeration, but any hotel will put yours in their fridge as required. Wonderful souvenir, wonderful gift!

Stumbled onto this gem during our trip in Ireland. Almost missed it because it is easily confused with the Burren Smokehouse which closed earlier. Had a delicious Burren dark beer and my wife and I shared 2 plates, the fig and sausage plates. Loved them both. Be warned the sausage plate had a tasty but intense spice.

Burren Smokehouse is the best I know, by a good margin, and it's been consistently great for years. Lots of recommendations to check this place out, so we did.  Very good smoked salmon - both hot and cold. Nice, very clean, tasting room and gift shop/gourmet grocery. They were out of some selections, so I'm not sure if we caught them out of season, or what. You can order online, but it would have been nice to save some shipping costs. Very friendly, and prices are good for the things they have.

Great smoked salmon available for tasting.  This is a good place for a quick stop on the way to the Cliffs of Moher if you like smoked salmon.  The salmon here is fresh and delicious.  They have a short movie, around 7 minutes, that details the smoking process.

Their products are SO GOOD.  if you get a chance, definitely stop by the store and the visitor's center.  They are super friendly and knowledgeable about their products.  Best of all, they give you samples of their salmon to try before you purchase.  Be warned though: once you try them, the likelihood of actually purchasing increases significantly.
